Among the big fork lure models to choose from are the Reef Digger, the Sand Cat, the Twitch Darter and the Top Cat. The Top Cat features a specific type of stainless steel that produces a unique sound and splash that increases strikes from smallmouth bass.
Big fork lures were designed for the gin clear lakes and rivers of northern Minnesota and Ontario, but you can try them in fresh and salt water anywhere. You'll find big fork lures in 15 new colors this year, including fire tiger, chartreuse shad and brown pikie.
Another fine contemporary example of a wooden lure is the Birdee lure from www.scientificfishing.com. These beautiful lures, handcrafted from beech wood, look like real birds. You may want to showcase them on your mantle, but they catch fish, which think they're real birds bobbing on the water for insects. Birdee lures are 3 1/2" long and weigh less than an ounce and are adept at catching large fish, from bass to muskies and pike. Choose from eagle, swallow, finch and sparrow models, available in five different colors.
