CANYON PLASTIC LURES

CANYON PLASTIC LURES ARE A BASS ANGLER FAVORITE!

By Ken Liebeskind
Yalesville, Connecticut

Canyon plastic lures are some of the most popular bass fishing lures, including the Gitzit, which is one of the 50 greatest lures of all time, according to Field & Stream. The Gitzit canyon plastic lure features a pointed nose that goes through the woolliest brush, grass and weeds. It can be fished drop shot, Texas or Carolina rig style. The Field & Stream angler said he often uses one in a light color to imitate small minnows and a darker color to mimic crayfish. He rigs it with an internal jighead or Texas rigs it with small split shot.

A variety of canyon plastic lure gitzits are available, from 2 1/2" mini gitzits to 5" ultimate gitzits. There's also the Great lake gitzit, which is available in brown melon, purple copper glitter and other colors.

The Walking Worm has constant curling
action that drives the fish crazy.

The gitzit was the first canyon plastic lure made by Gary Garland, an Arizona fisherman who says he's made 150 color combinations over the past 30 years, including mini jigs and frog lures. Canyon plastic lures offers a variety of plastic lures that are revered by bass anglers.

Another highly successful plastic lure that rivals the canyon plastic lure is the Walking Worm from www.scientificfishing.com. From the company renowned for its scientifically designed lures comes one that mimics the motion of a live worm through multiflex construction that causes the lure's tail to constantly move back and forth in the water. Hungry bass crave live worms, but most worm lures don't move, so the bass ignore them. The Walking Worm has proven to be a winner, beating live bait and other lures three to one in a Florida bass competition. The Walking Worm caught 100 bass in less than a day.

The Walking Worm can be Texas or Carolina rigged and is available in a variety of bass enticing colors, from red shad/green fleck to pearl white and green pumpkin seed.
