Michigan muskie fishing is best in late spring, just after muskies have spawned, when water temperatures are cool and the fish are aggressive and in late fall, when water temps cool again and muskies engage in a late-season feeding binge.

* Skegemog Lake -- the premier muskie lake in Northwest Michigan, where muskies gravitate to the shallow, weedy confines of the 2,561-acre lake, especially in spring and early summer.
* Black Lake -- Northern Michigan's 10,130 acre lake has a respectable population of big muskies.

* Lake St. Clair -- the lake on the Canadian border is great for Michigan muskie fishing because they move to Canadian waters in summer and early fall.
* St. Marys, Tahquemenon Rivers -- Great Lakes and northern muskies in the 30 to 40-inch range can be found in these rivers.
