RAPALA FLOATING LURE
RAPALA FLOATING LURE
IS A FISHING CLASSIC
By Ken Liebeskind
Yalesville, Connecticut
The rapala floating lure is the standard classic, based on the original design of Lauri Rapala from 1936 that revolutionized fishing. The rapala floating lure or the rapala floating minnow is the lure made from balsa wood that is designed to resemble an injured minnow. Today, the rapala floating lure is available in a variety of sizes and colors, from 1.5" to 7" inches long.
The lures feature a clear plastic diving lip below the eyes that enables them to track a foot or two below the surface with a wounded minnow wiggling action when they move forward.

Fish are attracted to the motion
and the sound of the KickTail XL-5
|
The rapala floating lure is a jerkbait lure that is pulled or jerked through the water with sweeping motions.
Another popular lure that mimics a floating fish is the KickTail lure from www.scientificfishing.com. This is the lure that resembles a threadfin shad, the most popular baitfish, and moves naturally in the water like a live fish. The lure is powered by aeronautical flutter technology that causes its tail, broken into five segments, to wag in the water as it is retrieved. This natural movement is so realistic that professional anglers couldn't tell the difference between the KickTail lure and a live fish. When tested it beat other lures and live bait three to one and it caught larger fish, so it's the ideal lure to use to land largemouth bass.
The KickTail is available in combo packs with new colors, including chartreuse, chrome and yellow rootbeer.
