STRIPED BASS BAIT
THE BEST STRIPED BASS BAIT
By Ken Liebeskind
Yalesville, Connecticut
If you're fishing for stripers in fresh or salt water, you'll be looking for the best striped bass bait. While many anglers use live bait, including clams, sand worms and mackerel, a variety of lures can are extremely popular.
Poppers, plugs, jigs, spinner baits, spoons and soft baits are suggested. One angler uses poppers when the fish are on top and large plugs when he has to cast a little farther. Another says swim shads work best because they look exactly like the baitfish they are designed to imitate. Soft plastic worm lures are popular, with longer versions called pencil worms used in salt water.
The worms can be slid on an offset worm hook, Texas style, to make the rig weedless."As unweighted plastic worms slowly sink and are jostled around by the current, bass can't resist them," the angler says.
The KickTail XL-5 is becoming the
striped bass bait of choice of

The Kick Tail swims like a real fish as its tail is broken into five segments that move automatically. Both the Walking Worm and Kick Tail utilize aeronautical flutter technology that causes the natural looking movement that rouses striped bass to strike.
Both of these best striped bass baits have won fishing tests in Florida, with the Kick Tail beating a combination of live bait and lures three to one, catching 41 bass versus 14 for the other baits. The Walking Worm caught 100 bass in less than a full day in another Florida test.
As you can see, the Kick Tail and Walking Worm are proven striped bass baits that have successfully caught large numbers of bass and beaten the competition.
