TIPS FOR EARLY SEASON BASS
TIPS FOR EARLY SEASON BASS

Bass fishing in spring is superb because bass begin to feed actively as the water warms and they move to the hallows. Then another transition occurs following the spawn as they move from the shallows and set up in areas that provide food and cover for the summer season. Our tips for early season bass remind you to take these factors into account and plan accordingly.
Fish the shallow areas early in spring where young bream and minnows congregate. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits and plastic worms are three of the best lures to use. If there is a lot of brush along the shore you should avoid spinners and crankbaits and use the worms with a Carolina rig. Worm lures also work best in mid and deep water.
One of the key tips for early season bass is to fish the correct side of the lake.

Bass are sensitive to temperature changes and seek out spots where the water is warmer, so use a thermometer or know where to look to find the best areas, such as creeks feeding into lakes that carry warmer water.
Another one of our tips for early season bass is to fish smaller bodies of water, ponds and small lakes that aren't as deep where bass become active earlier than in large impoundments. Also look for murky water, which is better than water that's too clear. Rattling lures and spinnerbaits work well here. Another one of the key tips for early season bass is to fish close, with short accurate casts under willows and clumps of grass where bass may be hiding.
Our tips for early season bass fishing also focus on the top lures and the Bite Lite from NGC Sports earns our vote. It's an electronic lure that blinks blood red upon retrieval to mimic an injured prey. When the bass see it, they think it's a bleeding minnow, which is their favorite food, so they strike fast. Three anglers caught 650 largemouth bass in a 25 hour period on a Mexican lake with the Bite Lite, a record for the lake. Use these tips for early season bass during your next spring fling and get ready for a big catch!
